Active Norfolk and Norfolk School Sports Partnerships have teamed up to bring HOT SHOTs to schools this summer term.

Set during national School Sport Week and Norfolk School Games Active Week, 21-25 June, HOT SHOTS gives pupils a chance to be more active at School, at HomeOutside when they play, and when they Travel to school.

HOT SHOTS provides schools with information, ideas and resources to help pupils be more physically active than usual.

Everything for the Active Week can be accessed via the webpage Active Week - Norfolk School Games.

Schools are encouraged to use the resources to support the 60 active minutes agenda, which supports pupils through transitions, improves health and wellbeing, and improves the activity levels of girls.

There are easy to follow ideas that will help pupils to try different ways of being active, in ways that they might not consider to be exercise. Plus, back by popular demand we’re coordinating another county-wide Colour Run to round off the week on Friday 25th!  See attached top tips.

Children should get 60 active minutes per day to support their healthy development, of which 30 minutes should be achieved at school.

With HOT SHOTs, schools will be able to use the range of fun activity resources either in school, or you can send them home. They have been developed by the teams from the Norfolk School Sports Partnerships.

We’ve developed a toolkit to support your pupils to be active during Active Week and be a HOT SHOT:

·         An activity tracker sheet

·         A promotional poster you can print out and use in your school

·         An e-flyer to send to parents

·         News item about Active Week to include in your communications to parents

At the end of Active Week, pupils can recognise that they’ve done more activity than they normally would and identify what activities they want to continue to do.

Win prizes for being active

Pupils can fill in their activity tracker sheets during Active Week and email them to us at [email protected] by Friday 2nd July. Alternatively, printed tracker sheets can be sent into your School Games Organiser to be entered to win.

We’ve got 100 goody bags packed with prizes and £50 vouchers that are up for grabs so there will be guaranteed winners from each School Sports Partnership!

Plus, schools can be in with a chance to a £250 equipment voucher by completing a survey about Active Week by Friday 9th July.

You can download the activity tracker sheet from the Norfolk School Games website, and access the materials and resources there to help you plan how your school takes part.
