Change 4 Life training is for teachers/TAs/adult volunteers who want to run a club in their schools.
What are Change 4 Life Sport Clubs?
They are designed to engage less-active school children in physical activity and school sport. The clubs capture the essence of the sport without directly delivering sport-specific content, and are grouped under five multi-sport themes: adventure, creative, combat, flight and target.
The equipment bags contain £800 worth of equipment which your school can keep once the club has run providing it is used effectively.
How does it work?
Schools selected to host a Change 4 Life Club will need to send 1 or 2 staff to this workshop on to learn about the clubs, how to deliver sessions and to pick up their equipment bag. The club will then need to run initially for 12 weeks in your school. Your C4L bags contain activity cards with many games and activities you can use at the club. The club can be run by a teacher, teaching assistant or even older pupils in your school. The initiative is designed to target the less sporty children in your school. All participants in the club receive a log book where they record what they enjoyed about the sessions, if they have done any exercise through the week, healthy eating and lifestyle questions etc. There are also stickers which the club deliverer can give to the children who can then add them to their logbooks.
Monitoring and Feedback
Within the children’s logbooks there are some pages which must be sent back to Youth Sport Trust in order to gauge the impact these clubs are having on less active children.The children will complete the very simple questionnaires during the 12 sessions A register will need to be completed and returned to I.McFadyen.
PLEASE NOTE: The clubs do not need to stop after 12 weeks; we want to make them sustainable so when all your questionnaires have been returned do consider carrying the club on without the logbooks, stickers etc or these can be purchased online. The equipment bag is yours to keep and should continue to be used to engage the less active pupils in your school!
